Base Paladin vs Oath of Vengance

Greetings friends. Making a Angel-kin Aasimar Paladin for an upcoming campaign. But as a first time paladin player in 1e would you suggest base paladin or Oath of Vengeance?

Have taken Magical Knack and Seeker as my traits.(another other recommendations?)

Looking at Fey Foundling for level 1 feat.

Going Scimitar/shield to be the parties defender.

Mount or Divine bond at level 5?

Suggested feats as i level?
