Deviations - Gotta Catch 'Em All
Hello
I like the deviations in this game and want to catch every single one.
Unfortunately it is quite difficult to find data about this game.
There is the fandom wiki, which holds quite literally 0 data as of now.
There is the ingame database, the Explorer's Guide, which is also isn't very helpful.
Then there are the websites "mapgenie.io" and "oncehumanmap.com" which to me seem to be the best sources of information at the moment.
And then there are thousands of 10 minute youtube videos which cover older versions of the game.
I could not find an actual list on where to obtain all deviations.
So this is what this is supposed to be.
A list of most deviations in the game and how to get them.
So, to start things of: How many deviations are there in this game?
I am quite certain that the number of obtainable deviations is 42 as of phase 2, with 2 more deviations coming in phase 3 and 4. Which then brings us to 44 deviations.
The game has an ingame deviation archive that can be found in the field guide. However, this does not offer any valueable information and it only shows deviations that you have already caught.
The much better source of data is found under: ESC -> Scenario in the top right -> Season Info -> Features
This shows a list of what I thought were all deviations in the game. The list contains 42 deviations, however it is missing (at least) Mr. Wish and Dr. Teddy. The list is still quite good though, you can check the name and appearance of the devations and if you hover above their icon, you can see what they do.
Some of the deviations are not acquirable at the moment. An example for that is the Nutcracker, which supposedly drops from the 5th story boss.
Disclaimer:
All the deviations for which I provide "data" I have already caught in the current game version, full release, on a PVE server. The one's that I have not caught and can't confirm any information I will mark as such. So none of the information is guessing or maybe maybe or that's how it worked 6 months ago.
Some of the deviations have multiple spots, where they can be obtained, however, I will only name the spots/ways that worked for me, as I can be sure that they are real.
Now I am going to list all the deviations with their respective information in the order they appear in the feature tab.
- Butterfly's Emissary
- Tutorial
- Festering Gel
- First Story Boss
- Electric Eel
- fishing; just fishing; doesn't require a special fishing area or an event or bait, just fish
- I had my best results with normal bait in a fising event area, where I caught 5 eels in 10 throws
- it is very common / easy to obtain
- Frog the Leaper
- there is a climbing "challenge" with stacked cars around the coordinates (5652, -3856)
- the frog hovers visibly over one of the cars
- if the frog is not there, you can go to a teleporter and change your world, and then try again, I got it on my first try
- the location is in Iron River southeast of Refinery Pollution Point and south of Riverheart Harbour
- Disco Ball
- found in the moving house gear crate (moving house quest in Tall Grass)
- Gingerbread House
- Lowe quest in Deadsville
- Buzyy Bee
- can be found at multiple farm locations, just buzzing and floating
- one location is a white farm tent with a round roof in Citrus County northwest of Deadsville; the bee will hover in front of that white tent
- if the bee is not there, drive to Deadsville and change your world, then check again
- it took me 6 world changes to get it
- the coordinates are (5732, -5204)
- can not be obtained on pvp servers
- Fetch-A-Lot-Bunny
- there are HUGE trees in the Red Sand region called Dracaena trees
- chop them down with a pickaxe, you can not use a chainsaw for this, or the bunny won't drop (allegedly)
- one tree's location is east of Evergreen around the coordinates ()
- every single chop has a chance to grant the bunny
- if you receive a bunny from a chop/hit, the bunny is instantly in your inventory and you will see a popup on your screen, no picking up neccessary
- I received 2 bunnies felling a single tree, so 2 bunnies in around 15 axe hits, seems quite common
- Logging Beaver
- can be found at multiple locations
- as always, if it's not there, just go to a different world
- one spot is the docks of Meyer's Market, right south of the teleporter around the coordinates (5781, -6629)
- The Digby Boy
- can be found while mining ore, personally I have never found one mining iron or tin ore
- has a very high chance of being obtained when mining silver ore
- you also get one through the Lowe quests (I believe a Deadsville Lowe quest)
- Harveseed
- drop from the second story boss
- Lethal Rabbit
- obtained by skinning rabbits
- you have to kill and then skin rabbits, the killing can't grant the rabbit, but obviously it is required if you want to skin them
- it took me around 75 rabbits to get one
- you receive it when you skin the rabbit, there is a popup on your screen and then it is in your inventory, you do not need to suck it in or pick it up
- Hug-in-a-Bowl:
- I do not know, yet
- supposedly, you can find it on certain street locations, but I have checked these locations over 30 times and have not been successful yet, so I can't confirm
- Grumpy Bulb
- I do not know
- chance to obtain when harvest deviated onions, according to other sources, but I have not had success with that yet
- Dreamcatcher
- drop from the third story boss
- Chefosaurus Rex
- Lowe quest in Meyer's Market
- side event in Phi Silo
- Pyro Dino
- do the side event in the Phi Silo
- when you enter the reward room / the children's room, that has the purple loot bubble, a seperate deviation bubble can spawn
- took me 3 tries to get it
- the deviation bubble can also contain the chef dino instead
- this deviation is supposed to be pvp only, so even after you catch it, the field guide archive entry for it is closed (just like Dr. Teddy)
- H37
- h37 quest from h37 in Greywater Camp
- side event in Alpha Silo, it seems to spawn as a seperate deviation bubble next to the loot bubble
- Enchanting Void
- so this is a weird one
- in a pve world (I have read that it can't spawn in a pvp world, but I can't confirm) do the side event in the Theta Silo
- the cat drops as a suckable baloon thingy, after you defeat the boss
- I have watched some youtube videos, and all of their drops where like his, where the cat dropped as a seperate object near the actual purple loot bubble
- however, when I finally got the cat after my 15th try, I used a Controller to get all the loot, and I received another cat inside that loot (and a fucking Dr. Teddy, in the same loot bubble, which makes no sense, as Dr. Teddy is a pvp only deviation; and what's even weirder, is that the Dr. Teddy deviation appears in the field guide archive, but when I click on it, it doesn't show any information, as I am not supposed to have found it)
- so yeah make of that what you will
- for 13 of my 15 tries I used no controller, because I thought, that the cat can only drop as a seperate thingy and didn't want to waste my controllers
- Polar Jelly
- you can obtain this from the cargo car event
- every second that you have the jelly hat on / that you are the host, you have a small chance to just receive the deviation into your inventory
- it seems like shooting other people while you the jelly hat on also gives a chance per bullet to obtain it
- I got 4 from just afking solo next to the truck
- Atomic Lighter
- drops from the boss of the EX1 silo
- it took me 8 runs to get it, but when I finally got it, it dropped 2 seperate lighters
- the deviation drops as a seperate devitation bubble right next to the purple loot bubble
- this deviation is supposed to be pvp only, so even after you catch it, the field guide archive entry for it is closed (just like Dr. Teddy)
- Space Turney
- the quest in Dayton hospital
- the quest starts in a small house at the west entrance of the zone, around (5664, -4613)
- Rebecca
- Not obainable at the moment
- according to old videos, it can be found inside the HP Evolution Instituite in Red Sands
- that dungeon isn't open yet
- Strange Door
- any of the door puzzle locations, check the once human maps website
- it is floating around and you can suck in the deviation bubble
- also drops from the 4th story boss
- Growshroom
- I read that you can only obtain it from harvesting deviated mushrooms
- however, I got it by harvesting normal mushrooms, it took around 20 mushrooms
- the deviation lands in your inventory when harvesting, you do not need to suck it up or collect it seperately
- Rain Man
- chance to obtain when you kill an elite umbrella girl
- one of those is at the docks right next to the huge ship in Harborside south of Meyer's Market in Broken Delta, around (5959, -7160)
- it took me 8 kills to get it, she respawns roughly every 9 minutes
- the deviation is part of her blue elite loot pickup thingy, so there is no seperate deviation bubble, just pick up her normal blue elite loot
- Extradimensional Cat
- she can be obtained in some of the main towns
- she floats around as a deviation bubble and can be sucked in
- I have found 1 every 3rd time I visited Blackfell, right next to the teleporter, in front of the restaurant, they are very common
- Artisans's Touch
- drops from an elite Forge / Smelter guy; the mob with a round furnace as a head that it can place on the ground as another minion
- just like rain man, the deviation is part of the elite loot
- so you do not need to kill the small guy, the big one is enough
- he respawns every 9 minutes, so you could afk near him
- one of them is found in Hearst Industries south of Deadsville in the house with the red roof in the north eastern part of the zone, around (6125, -5980)
- it took me 22 kills to receive one deviation :(
- it can also drop from the elite weather monster in Evergreen (the one with 4 tvs as a head)
- some people had the idea that the deviations's crafting item, that can repair gear, can repair items that are not yours (the ones from gear crates), but unfortunately that is not the case, it does not repair equipment that do not belong to you, I tried it out :x
- By-The-Wind
- No idea
- has a chance to be obtained when opening a prime war 3 reward with a controller
- Party Monkey
- chance to obtain when you successfully finish a Refinery Event at any of the Refinery Spots, the event can be done on the lowest difficulty
- you will receive the monkey (if you get it) once you claim your rewards from the terminal
- Shattered Maiden
- Lowe quest in Tall Grass
- Voodoo Doll
- many many spots
- some cities have large wooden towers that you can walk up, usually with a large chest at the top
- I found a deviation at the bottom of one of these, at Fort Eyrie in Red Sands
- though just use the website for this, they are common
- Atomic Snail
- No idea
- possibly reward from prime wars
- Orb Lightning
- inside 73 Source Extraction Point facility, west of Blackfell
- floating around in a room on the top floor near the rift anchor
- Mini Wonder
- Lowe Quest in Blackfell
- Flame Essence
- multiple spots
- I found mine sitting on pipes in Sutherland Chemical Plant, visible from the main street that goes through the zone
- Lonewolf's Whisper
- drop from the fourth story boss
- Zeno-Purifier
- can be found as a reward in random events (like the bright purple/red eye event with the black smoke)
- can also be obtained as a season goal reward after killing 200 enemies with a melee weapon
- Snow Globe
- obtained by defeating the final (snow) boss in the Psi Silo
- the deviation drops as a seperate deviation bubble right next to the purple loot bubble
- it took me 2 runs to get it (so clearly the drop chance is 50%, good luck)
- this deviation is supposed to be pvp only, so even after you catch it, the field guide archive entry for it is closed (just like Dr. Teddy)
- Nutracker
- drops from the fifth story boss, so not obtainable yet
- Mini Feaster
- drops from many events, like the red/purple eye event, feel like it has a 80% drop chance from that one
- Paper Doll
- inside the second house below the street when you enter Alkirk (city right next to the Mirage Monolith) through the east entrance, so inside the supermarket building
These were all 42 deviations that can be found under the Season Info tab.
However, there are at least 2 more deviations that are in the game but can not be found in that list.
I have acquired both of these.
They are put seperately below:
- Mr. Wish
- can be obtained through the Mr. Wish event in the Sigma Silo
- in the past it dropped as a suckable deviaton bubble
- I do not know if that is still possible
- I thought it wasn't
- but since the cat dropped from the Theta Silo event boss as a deviation bubble...
- so I would say that the deviation is part of the purple loot bubble
- it took me 30 tries to get it
- I used a controller for the first 10 runs
- used no controller for the last 20 runs, and obtained the deviation while not using a controller
- is the chance of getting it higher if you use a controller? idk
- but 30 runs were enough for me
- Dr. Teddy
- according to sources it is pvp only
- I got it on a pve server
- do the side event in the Theta Silo
- use a controller when you open the loot bubble
- it took me 15 tries but it's just weird
Out of the 44 deviations that I believe to be in the game, I have found 38 so far.
2 of these 44 are unobtainable before and during Phase 2.
Deviations that I have NO clue how to obtain:
- By-The-Wind
- Atomic Snail
Thank you for reading.
If anyone has any information about these deviations above or has already found them, I would love to learn about that.
If you have anything else to add or correct, I would love to do edit that to the post.
Edit: Thanks for the input, I added most of the things that were commented!
