Does anyone have trouble with Reading Comprehension depending on the subject matter?

I don't meant to trash certain subjects but as I get more practice, I'm finding that I really really struggle if the reading comprehension passage is in the realm of the arts. Science, politics, or current events? I do great, potentially perfect. Dancing or painting? Uh oh, I'm screwed. It's just hard to retain information for me when the subject is very abstract. And, quite frankly, I'm ignorant of the arts and I don't think I can suddenly become more cultured lol.
