Forgive me father controls

I'm a new player to forgive me father but I'm getting very annoyed with the mouse lag (?) in the game. It feels far too difficult to point my mouse, when the sensitivity is low it takes too much time to move and when it's high any movement makes the mouse go all over the place. I don't think it's my computer as the mouse on the loading screen is smooth and works normally on many other high action games too, is this a feature of the game or another problem, and how do I fix it?
