Rolex 24/Daytona Spectator Photography

So myself and a couple of friends are attending this year's Rolex 24 and Daytona for the first time, travelling from the UK.

I know two of us will be bringing our camera equipment with us to try and capture as much of the event as possible. And I've had a look through as man FAQ's as possible, but it does seem to answer questions I have regarding where we can shoot from, camera restrictions etc.

Are there any lens size restrictions? I found out at Hockenheim, Germany a few years ago that some tracks have lens zoom restrictions for spectators. Don't want to get caught out with that.

Are there any areas where you can't stand to get photos, such as, standing close to the catch fencing on the Tri-Oval, to be able to shoot through? Having attended the Little 500 at Anderson Speedway in Indiana a few years back, these seemed fine in practice, until the race started and everyone was moved back.

The FAQ's state no tripods or mono pods, which is understandable due to their size. But does this include things like Joby Gorillapods? It would be great to use up in the stands at night.

Do I need to bring anything with me to gain any extra height on the infield? I have no problem shooting through a catch fence, providing I can stand close enough. But having never been to the track before, I dont know the situation on this.

And of course, if anyone can give any pointers on great places around the track for spectator area photography, it would be greatly appreciated, or even any other pointer anyone might have for a Daytona and Rolex24 rookie for that matter.
