How much can I underclock/undervolt a 12700k to get its power usage down?

Microcenter has 12700k, good mobo, 16gb ram for $280.

I can't find a 12400 or something system that cheap.

So i'm wondering if through bios I can tweak the settings to make its lack of power efficiency much less of a problem or not. Anyone ever tried this? It'd be nice honestly to have the extra cores for future proofing as well.
