This game's chores feel short but are actually very time-consuming
Let me start by saying I like the game still and dont feel like quitting (yet), but that the time commitment the game asks of you to get all the relevant rewards is much higher than it initially seemed and that's a major issue imo.
When I started playing, dailies seemed like a 5 minutes affair at most: log in, dump all stamina on whatever using sweep, click commissions tab get max rewards, click dispatch resend done. Problem is if you only do that, you're giving up on a good chuck of rewards, including collapse pieces.
Other """mandatory""" chores (if you're like me and want to get all the relevant stuff) now include...
Pvp, which consists of scouting for 3 easy battles against lower level opponents and then autoing them. You'll usually win by turn 2 or 3, but I would still say that amounts to about 7 minutes of semi-afk VERY boring content a day. This rewards you about 2 to 3 pulls a week over time, accounting for the promotion and weekly (seasonal) rewards.
Platoon: between 1 to 3 very boring autoable battles + clicking claim all on 2 different tabs, depending if frontline is open or not. I would say this can take between 2 to 7 minutes depending on how good your units are and how fast you click through the menus. Remember, you have to step up 2 squads for frontline and only the first one gets saved from the previous day for some reason. Plus, the buffs change so you have to set up those everyday if you want to min max. I dont care much about min maxing cause Im a dolphin, so I get max rewards always with whatever buffs, but the experience of this mode is still horrible imo. Honestly, does the animation of the buff for the shield mobs really need to play out (slowly and for each one) every time we start a new round, even though ive cleared it dozens of time already with more than half the rounds remaining?
Not doing the platoon would mean giving up on a bunch of limited and standard pulls, on top of all the materials
- Events: the problem here is that you have to clear the story to be able to spend supply tickets, which creates FOMO to clear the story faster. Also, even after the story, every new big event adds another few click every other day at least cause you still need to open the supply tab, auto x3 and tickets only stack up to 6 (you get 3 a day). It takes less than a min, but still annoying af. Why not give us the whole shop once we clear story+supplies+challenges, like hoyo games or wuwa does?
And then there are then weeklies....
Boss challenge: im still having fun with this one, so I dont consider it a chore, but it does add to the time "requirement" every week.
The abyss/tower of adversity/memory of chaos style mode: this one is also still enjoyable for me as ive not yet cleared it all, but same as the boss, it still adds to minimum playtime every other week
military formation thing: the "true" pvp. All you have to do is 15 battles every other week for about 3 pulls, win or lose. I can see how this mode can be enjoyable for some ppl, but at my current account level I dont have any expectation of actually climbing and autoing 15 battles would be too annoying, so I ignore it.
other smaller events, like the board game one and the current "you play as the enemies". I found the board game one awful but the other one very fun, but nevertheless you can certainly add some "mandatory" playtime.
Tldr: dispatch + pvp + platoon + stamina dump + supply event menu every day takes about 15~20 minutes of semi afk (with still lots of clicking, you still have to input a command about every minute or so) is a bit much and could be streamlined. Its a lot of different menus for no reason, and I would be happy if it only took 5 minutes max per day (like ZZZ or heaven burns red, the other 2 gachas i currently play). That minimum daily effort + the weekly stuff is making me feel a bit burned out and im the type of person who just quits altogether instead of skipping a day. I really dont think GFL2 should aim for their daily commitment to be about the same as a game like genshin, for example.
Sorry for the ranty post, I guess I just want to know if anybody else feels the same. I looks like I trashed the game but this is not a review, I still like many aspects of the game.
Edit: lmao someone reported me to reddit's suicide watch. Gacha gamers are another breed I guess
