I feel used and hurt—how should I handle running into this person again?
I became friends with someone last year, and at first, he seemed great. We were in the same class, and I helped him out a lot—inviting him to meet my friends when he didn’t have any, including him in things, and even assisting him with his housing situation.
But over time, I started noticing inconsistencies in his stories. Things just didn’t add up, and I couldn’t verify anything he claimed online. On top of that, I realized our friendship felt really one-sided—he never reciprocated my kindness or included me in things the way I did for him. Eventually, I called him out on his sketchy stories, and instead of explaining, he claimed he tried to make things work but that it was me that created all these issues and then blocked me. He even accused me of lying as well. I think he made his friend that I barely know but who added me on instagram also remove me, which I find so strange and mean.
Now, I feel hurt and angry. We live in a small place, so there’s a good chance I’ll run into him again. A part of me wants to confront him and even embarrass him in front of others because I feel so hurt by him. But I also don’t want to look petty or make things worse.
How should I handle it if I see him again?
