It turned out that it wasn’t NAFLD

After two years of thinking I had fatty liver and (hopefully) losing weight (+30kg), I had a liver biopsy last week. It turns out it's not steatosis, but rather inflammation that the doctors cannot explain.

I’m scared and desperate because if they don’t find the cause, they can’t treat it. My ALT levels have been elevated but never more than 2 times the normal range. Tests for viral hepatitis and autoimmune diseases came back negative.

The doctors are stumped. Has anyone else had a similar experience or situation?
