Lost my ambition, struggling with direction
Some background. I'm a 43 yo male, have a wife and 5 kids, mortgage, etc. I've been running the family business for 12 years (been in it for 19 years), and am finding myself lacking ambition or excitement. I just don't have a vision for growth, so the day to day feels like drudgery.
I'm burned out, but it's more than just needing a vacation. As I write this, I'm on vacation at a nice resort. I feel like it's deeper. I've lost my desire to work. People have asked, "what would you do if money were no issue"? Honestly, I would go to the gym, play golf, read, play my guitar, maybe learn to code, try to write that novel, make video content, etc. There are things I enjoy, but I haven't been able to connect those things to my business in a meaningful way.
Is it just time to retire? I'm too young, but I also feel like I'm a liability. Certainly my lack of vision isn't helping my employees. Or (ideally) is there some way to get back my enthusiasm, and get a vision for what could be?
