Does Anyone Else Find "Packaged Calories" Safer?

I'm about to buy more bulk protein bars because the calories listed on the menu of my college dining hall are making me nervous for no good reason and I guess I'm just wondering if this is common for anyone else?

I have a feeling it might be a control thing and wanting to feel as though everything is perfectly accounted for rather than ambiguous and therefore 'unsafe'? But I don't know. Sorry for such a silly ramble, I've just been thinking a lot lately lol
