Trump's new "External Revenue Service" and the insanity of modern America

I'm a Canadian, and we're being threatened with taxation from the United States. We're told we're "ripping" them off and "not paying our bills," but nobody can articulate what this means.

How would America collect this tax from us? I understand there will be a new "External Revenue Service" that will be responsible for collection, but through what mechanism? What if we just say no? (Because we will.)

It could it be that Trump still doesn't know what tariffs are because he's unintelligent, uninformed, and misinformed. He clearly has a below-average IQ, as well as a mediocre education. And to make it worse, probably suffering from a personality disorder that makes him uncaring and closed to learning. According to experts, he's a narcissist at best, and a sociopath at worst.

Whatever's going on in his head, if he follows through on just half of what he says, the United States will never live this down. Americans are letting a civilly-liable rapist and convicted criminal threaten our livelihoods and even our sovereignty. History will not be kind. We won't be either.

But let's discuss. Maybe it doesn't have to be this way. Why don't our countries just stay best friends, keep trading, and not tax, tariff, threaten, insult, attack, or annex each other? Then again, maybe that's too much to ask for.
