Does Dandadan Ever Break the No-Dating Trope?

I’ve been reading Dandadan, but I’m not fully caught up on the latest chapter. There’s one thing that’s really been bothering me about the story so far: the two main characters, Momo and Okarun, obviously have feelings for each other, but instead of a confession, we’re stuck in this annoying cycle where side characters get more semi-romantic involvement with them.

I get that it’s a shonen series, but why does it have to follow the same toxic trope where the main characters can’t date? It’s SUPER annoying. Every time a new character is introduced, they’re framed as a potential love interest for one of the leads, which initially makes us dislike them—even if they end up taking a backseat later on.

Does this pattern continue throughout the story, or is there a point where Momo and Okarun actually confess their feelings and start dating? Would love to know if it’s worth pushing through this trope!
