Cat “sneezing” at night?

i've noticed the last few nights one of my cats is excessively "sneezing". it's more like puffing air as if she's going to sneeze but never actually sneezing. she acts fine, like her normal self. eating and drinking like normal. not phlegmy that i've noticed. i'm just wondering if it's something that needs a vet visit. money is a bit tight right now but if that's what i need to do then i will...
