My cat may have FIP and was advised that euthanizing her may be the best option

Currently I am away in another country and the day before my flight, my cat fell very ill. I wasn’t able to cancel my trip due to personal circumstances and entrusted my partner to look after her while I was away.

After many trips to the vet, they took her blood and results came back with too much protein in her blood - therefore may be a symptom of FIP. This would also require another blood test and another 2 week wait for the results.

She hasn’t been eating nor drinking any water, the vet prescribed her with steroids but since it has to be admitted with food, this is proving very hard.

My partner was advised by the vet that if she doesn’t get any better, it may be best to put her down as the treatment for FIP is stressful and long.

Right now I am struggling with this decision because I am not with her and I can’t bear the pain of thinking how much she’s suffering. I’m afraid that if I put her down, firstly I won’t be there with her but I also would never know if she had FIP or not.

My partner has sent me photos and videos of her and I can’t even watch the full thing because I can tell that she’s hurting. He also said that it seems like she doesn’t want to get better, almost like she’s given up.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, feeling very alone and useless because I am not there with my cat at the moment and the decision will need to be made sooner rather than later.

I don’t want to make her wait until I come back but if I have to make the decision to put her down, I won’t be there with her.
