Backpacking in Early August

I have a meeting at Lake Tahoe in late July and would love to backpack in Yosemite afterwards. I'm from Georgia and don't know much about that part of the country. I would gladly welcome any suggestions about which trail(s) I should be contemplating? I'm not looking for anything drastic or overly technical. Most of my packing experiences have come on the Appalachian Trial (a little over 300 miles) in Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. I'll have, at most, a week before I have to head home. Thanks!
