For those of you who participate in hookup culture, what is it like?

I’ve never done anything remotely sexual outside of a relationship, for some reason the label makes me feel safe. The added time of knowing someone and assuming they have good intentions with me long term helps. Ive been out of a relationship for a year and I want to get back out there but sex seems to be a main requirement for a lot of people. I don’t think I’m willing to waver on it but I see why sexual compatibility is important to people.

So what’s it like? Are you not scared of being awkward? Do you feel like you have to perform and make certain faces? What do you feel before during and after the encounter?

Edit: thank you guys for being honest <3 you helped me realized that perhaps staying in my comfort zone is best. Still though I love hearing such varied experiences
