How safe is it to go to the USA?

Hey guys! I'm a 22yo brown brazilian female who have been planning my life around being an Au Pair in the USA by the end of this year or maybe 2026.

But I have to be honest, keeping in track with the recent news about the rise of the extreme right and anti-immigrant policies under Trump's administration is making me feel extremely concerned about my own safety...

My question here is for american HF and foreign Au Pairs in America, do you think it still is a good idea to go? Is media exaggerating the news? Will I be able to have a good experience or is it better to prevent myself from facing racism and prejudice by giving up on going?
