He stopped talking to me after I opened up

I (F38) shared with you in previous posts how I liked this male friend (36) of mine so much, then I followed the advice given here about opening up to him about how I feel in a respectful and non over the top way (I want to believe, you can see a bit of the exchange in my previous post), but after that, he changed, became distant, cold and just abruptly stopped responding my calls and messages as he used to do, when he said everything was ok between us despite me opening up. I was feeling ok and at peace with the situation, despite of it not turned out to be what I would have hoped for, but I never expected that he would stop talking to me entirely after all these years of friendship. Now I do feel beyond heartbroken. I will never open up to a man again.
