AFS Waiver Probability

Stats are as follows 11B E6 31 yrs old 62 SIFT 130 GT Bachelor's degree Air assault 5 NCOERs, 4 HQ 1 Q (I know, not one of my proudest moments)

My concern is that I have 8yrs AFS, and by the time I submit everything I'll be at 9. My recruiter said AFS waivers aren't as easy to get approved as they used to be. He still said to apply but that was apparently the current trend. I woulda dropped the packet sooner but it took me 3 duty stations to finally get PRK approved. Can anyone who got selected in the last year or so tell me if there's any truth to this?
