AIO have I just out grown this relationship
My partner and I got into an argument stemming from his drinking and lack of work. So I’m working overtime and throughout the public breaks and Christmas period. Found alternative jobs like pet setting over the end of year period so I can cover paying my partners share of rent, utilities and food. He asked me on Tuesday if he could stay up all night to drink and get high with our room mate, mind you I have work the next day and need to get up in the morning. Since he asked I told him I’d rather you do it on Friday night or the weekend as I need sleep and they get loud. He then proceeds to have a fit about it saying I never let him do anything which isn’t true he sits at home all day and play his video games, doesn’t clean and barely cooks. I don’t say anything about it and never complained if he went out for fishing etc. He then proceeds to cry about it like full blown tears at this point. I just told him calmly that I’m not stopping you from doing it on Friday night or the weekend as I need my sleep, I’m burnt out and I just need you to atleast meet me half way. He starts yelling at me how I’m a fkn b*tch and child coz I can’t fall asleep, talking about certain family members of mine that are in a good position poorly etc… long story short he proceeds to drink and get high. I’ve talked to my friend overseas and she has told me to put my foot down let him figure out the rent as he is an adult, she continues to say that I’ve made so many compromises and sacrifices and he can’t do one. What she said made a lot of sense and have followed her advice though I’m worried if I’m being a little too harsh.
For added context I was out of work for 6 months just over a year ago (my company that I worked for was purchased my an offshore company and had the intention of getting there own employees from overseas to work there), I still paid all my bills, cooked and cleaned and did the food shopping in that time. I never asked him once to help me pay any bills and he still had a fight with me finding a job
