How do I stay motivated to go to the gym?
hi there, i’m a 23 year old girl with adhd who just can’t seem to stay motivated to go to the gym. i really want to be consistent at the gym and go every day but i find it extremely hard. i want to grow my muscles, become toned and most of all really grow my glutes but every day i struggle to actually get up and go.
technically my motivation is being unhappy with how my body looks and wanting to change it, and there aren’t really alternatives to weight lifting to get the kind of results i want so i just need help figuring out how to want to get up and go consistently.
i don’t hate working out, i feel great whenever i go and have a good workout, but i feel like i do a lot of mental gymnastics before i have to go and i find i make excuses to not go every day (airpods aren’t charged, gym clothes don’t match, etc). its hard as well because if i don’t go consecutively i get extremely sore every time i work out and then i have to skip because i’m too sore to exercise.
anybody with any ideas or suggestions?
edit: wow, i wasn’t expecting this much feedback thank you all so much!! even though i’m not able to respond to everyone i appreciate all of the advice and i’m reading every single response!
a lot of people suggested working out at home, but i’m on the skinnier side and i’m working to get bigger and gain muscle, so unfortunately buying some weights or doing youtube at home exercises wouldn’t help me achieve my goal although i wish i could do it all at home!!
i’ve tried encouraging my friends to go with me but they either have memberships at other gyms or just flat out refuse to go to the gym haha.
i have an app by a gym influencer i really like that gives you workout routines that change every month and works really well for my goals!
i see now my issue is having discipline and not motivation, so i need to just get up and go without thinking twice about!!
