Mileage Guilt?

Does anyone else ever feel guilty racking up miles on what feels like an irreplaceable truck? like you should be saving it for real adventures, and real snow emergencies, not wasting it just picking up a quart of milk, or mundane commuting? Anyone buy a beater for commuting, to keep miles off their 4Runner?

For years, I eagerly looked forward to each new generation of cars improving on the last, and I don't think that's the case anymore. I see the 6th gen runners as overly complicated with electronics that will be impossible to repair or replace in a few years, And beyond that, the political forces that want us to drive electric appliances are alive and well. If I can keep my 5th gen to 1000 miles/month on average, it'll take 25 years to get to 300,000 miles, and I hope to be retired by then, at least. i don't want to be stuck buying the equivalent of a Wrangler 4xE or Mustang Mach E in five years.
